Government environmental departments at various levels in Shanxi province have recently applied the wisdom and strength they attained from Party history education to fight against pollution and improve the natural environment.

Early on March 26, the Shanxi Department of Ecology and Environment held a symposium to solicit the opinions of professionals and local authorities. The department invited representatives of local industrial enterprises and officials from Taiyuan municipal government, Qingxu's county government and Taiyuan bureau of ecology and environment to discuss strengthening pollution prevention, implementing environmental protection responsibilities and creating energy-saving and environmentally friendly enterprises.

Through the symposium, the Shanxi Department of Ecology and Environment gained a comprehensive understanding of the difficulties and obstacles encountered in the transformation and development of enterprises, the challenges of environmental quality improvement and the future direction of environmental protection services.

The Party history education sessions have also urged civil servants of government environmental departments to work more vigorously to ensure a healthy natural environment.

The Xiangfen branch of Linfen bureau of ecology and environment recently launched a special law enforcement team to investigate and deal with illegal pollutant discharge by enterprises in the electric power, central heating, casting, cement, building materials, coal mining and processing industries. It has ordered them to formulate rectification plans and clarify rectification time limits, and designated special personnel to follow up on their progress. 

Through the team's actions, environmental problems that seriously affect people's health and social stability have been handled, said Jia Yueyong, head of the bureau's Xiangfen branch.
