Shanxi officials to increase cooperative ties with Tianjin

A delegation of officials from North China's Shanxi province visited the port city of Tianjin on April 14 and met with local officials, in order to increase their cooperative ties.

The delegation visited downtown Tianjin, Binhai New Area, Tianjin Cloud Account Shared Economy Information Consulting Co, and viewed the unmanned operations demonstration project there at Tianjin Port.

The delegates investigated how the city plays a key role in the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, looked into how it is involved in the development of smart and eco-friendly ports and how Tianjin Cloud Account Shared Economy Information Consulting Co builds a comprehensive service platform to serve the city's shared economy. 

Lin Wu, governor of Shanxi province and Liao Guoxun, mayor of Tianjin, gave presentations on the socioeconomic developments in the two regions at a symposium. 

Lou Yangsheng, Party chief of Shanxi, praised Tianjin for its long-term support for the province. He made a number of suggestions on their shared industrial development, as well as on their energy affairs, modern logistics and environmental protection.

He urged Shanxi and Tianjin to jointly work on innovation platforms, promote the sharing of their technology resources – as well as support moves to undertake research into key technologies and promote technological innovation and achievements in commercialization. 

He also urged both sides to strengthen their industrial cooperation in basic industries, emerging industries and future industries – as well as to innovate in joint energy developments and promote green energy ventures, accelerate their integrated development of road-sea-air-port transportation based on the port city and strengthen their prevention and control of pollution. 

Li Hongzhong, Party chief of Tianjin, said that Shanxi had always been Tianjin's main energy supply base and had provided strong support for the city's development.

He suggested that Tianjin and Shanxi strengthen their port cooperation work and ventures in sea-rail-road-port combined transportation – giving full play to Tianjin Port as a maritime gateway in North China. 

Li said the partners should strengthen business matchmaking of high-end industries such as smart technology and IT application innovation sectors, as well as deepen their cooperation in scientific and technological innovation and promote its economic transformation and upgrading. 

He added that the two sides should further their mutual understanding of the environmental protection sector, carry out environmental protection to a high standard and jointly promote their green development. 

In addition, both should further promote development and joint ventures in the energy, resources, technology, employment and financial innovation sectors, deepen cooperation in commerce and trade services, as well as in culture and tourism, so as to promote the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and regional cooperation in the Bohai Sea Rim.
