The first smart mobile hospital in North China's Shanxi province was officially put into use in Shouyang county on Jan 28.

To expand the coverage of healthcare, develop medical services and related industries and respond to the normalized pandemic prevention and control situation, Shouyang county's government invested more than 11 million yuan ($1.7 million) to purchase 10 medical inspection vehicles and one digital radiography diagnostic vehicle to form the Smart Mobile Hospital of Shouyang Medical Group.

Each of the medical inspection vehicles is equipped with standard medical devices and can complete seven major and 53 minor checkup items and medical imaging diagnoses, and passes the data to the medical departments of relevant hospitals. The vehicles can also give checkup feedback to patients through the internet and access the public health system, leading hospitals and medical groups across the country to realize telemedicine by experts.

The smart mobile hospital can cooperate with Shouyang Medical Group's ambulances to go to any place in the county to carry out family doctor services for senior residents, patients with disabilities and poor households, allowing them to enjoy essential checkup services.

During an emergency drill on pandemic prevention and control and standard medical treatment by the smart mobile hospital on Jan 28, rural doctor Zhu Yuanlun in Dadongzhuang village said that the grassroots clinics and villagers welcomed the hospital vehicles. The intelligent mobile hospital saved rural patients' time and money and satisfied their needs to receive medical treatment from experts at home through telemedicine.

Currently, the smart mobile hospital's medical inspection vehicles are widely used by local township health centers. They can adapt to urban and rural traffic situations and have the ability to deal with emergencies, including disease outbreaks and major public health incidents.
