Shanxi announces 11 measures to improve people’s lives

The Shanxi Provincial Government will carry out 11 measures in the current year to better serve residents and improve their lives, according to an annual provincial government work report released at the fourth session of the 13th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress on Jan 20.
The province will continue to implement mass programs to improve vocational skills, along with the urban senior care project and the mass culture promotion project. It will also continue offering free pre-marital medical examinations, free legal consultations and legal aid to particular groups.
The government will provide free prenatal screening and diagnosis services for pregnant women, and free breast and cervical cancer screenings for rural women in targeted counties.
Shanxi will strive to identify disabilities at the earliest possible stage and provide support and rehabilitation for children suffering from disabilities, with the beneficiaries reaching 50,000.
The province will also install automatic external defibrillators in crowded public venues in response to possible emergencies, and the government will give subsidies to install elevators in existing residences.
In addition, 200 rest stations for outdoor laborers will be built in 2021 to improve their working conditions.
