North China's Shanxi province issued a series of policies on Nov 24, to boost the development of the integrated circuits (IC) and software industries and attract more top professionals in the fields.

Under the policies, Shanxi will support recruitment and training by subsidizing IC and software companies that introduce and cultivate outstanding backbone talent in techniques, management, marketing and finance.

Employees who participate in advanced training at home and abroad or are sent to work in cooperating international companies for further training will each be given a subsidy of 50 percent of the training costs or advanced learning fees.

The province will also commend and reward high-end talent, top engineers and R&D designers who make outstanding contributions to the local IC and software sectors.

For the major enterprises, organizations and institutes winning first or second place in national awards for natural science and technological invention or for scientific and technical progress with tech programs, Shanxi will award 3 million yuan ($456,538) and 1.5 million yuan, respectively.
