Shanxi adds 53 foreign-funded firms in first eight months

North China's Shanxi province saw 53 newly registered foreign-invested enterprises locate operations there in the first eight months of 2020, according to Shanxi Department of Commerce on Sept 17. 

The department's statistics showed that foreign direct investment in the period came in at $1.3 billion, an increase of 54.38 percent year-on-year. 

In terms of different industries, the actual use of foreign capital in the manufacturing industry and in the production and supply of electricity, gas and water over the period increased more than 10 percent and 105.97 percent year-on-year, respectively.   

Foreign direct investment in the mining industry increased 102.36 percent year-on-year, while that in wholesale and retail sectors increased 40 percent.

In addition, foreign direct investment in scientific research, technical services and the geological prospecting industries increased 52.99 times, while that in the information transmission, the computer services and software industries increased 449.59 times year-on-year. 

Direct investment from Australia, the United States and the Netherlands over the past eight months grew 90 percent, 434.83 percent and 150.35 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
