North China's Shanxi province recently implemented a range of measures providing incentives and subsidies for the development of the local convention and exhibitions industry, according to the Shanxi Commerce Department.

Officials said the province established a special incentive and subsidy fund for the sector, which is managed by the Shanxi Provincial Department of Finance and the Shanxi Commerce Department.

Under the measures, Shanxi will provide up to 1 million yuan ($141,249) to each individual or group introducing international brand exhibitions to the province, up to 800,000 yuan to those introducing exhibitions of domestic brands and up to 500,000 yuan to those introducing recognized industrial brand exhibitions.

In addition, Shanxi will reward each of those introducing large-scale international conventions or forums with up to 500,000 yuan.

A one-time incentive of no more than 500,000 yuan will be given to those having held the same themed exhibitions in Shanxi for more than 10 years and which are continuing to expand in scale.
