Shanxi's foreign trade hits $6.2b in Jan-May
The value of imports and exports in North China's Shanxi province reached 44.01 billion yuan ($6.2 billion) between January and May this year, according to the latest report by the Taiyuan Customs office.
During the period, the value of the province's exports reached 25.19 billion yuan and imports were worth 18.82 billion yuan.
In the first five months, general foreign trade increased 15 percent year on year, accounting for 47.2 percent of the province's total foreign trade value, an increase of 10.4 percentage points over the same period last year.
Import and export goods housed in bonded warehouses in the province amounted to 2.15 billion yuan, up 140 percent and accounting for 4.9 percent of the province's total foreign trade value.
The value of imports and exports conducted by private enterprises in Shanxi continued to increase, worth 11.09 billion yuan in the period, accounting for 25.2 percent of the province's total foreign trade value with a year-on-year growth of 6.8 percentage points.
