Design competition spurs cultural creativity in Shanxi
The 2nd Shanxi Cultural Creative Design Competition is running from May to November this year, according to information released at a news conference in Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on May 18.
The contest is being sponsored by the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. It is being co-organized by the Shanxi Provincial Culture and Tourism Industry Development Center, Shanxi Cultural and Tourism Cloud Travel Group, the Palace Museum Cultural Creative R & D Exchange Center and the School of Art at Taiyuan University of Technology.
Officials said that with the theme of "Wonderful Shanxi, Creative Future", the competition aims to develop an ecosystem of cultural creative products and tourism commodities, explore the cultural resources of Shanxi, stimulate public enthusiasm for creations and enhance the creative abilities and technical levels of culturally creative professionals.
In addition, it aims to build an industry communications platform, improve creative product designs, research and development, commercialization and marketing industry chains and create more culturally creative products that integrate artistry and practicality.
The organizers said that cultural creative design companies or teams, teachers and students of art schools, cultural creative design technical institutions from across Shanxi province and beyond as well as individuals interested in design are welcome to participate in the competition.
The competition is divided into five phases including collecting entries, evaluation, awards and an exhibition.
Officials said the event has also attracted the participation of investment and financing institutions, business incubators, maker spaces and media agencies to promote the commercialization of designs that are submitted.
Various awards will be given based on the originality, artistry, practicality and marketability of entries as well as based on online voting and the opinions of experts.
