North China's Shanxi province had sent 1,505 medics from 174 local medical institutions to Central China's Hubei province -- the region hardest hit by the novel coronavirus pneumonia -- to fight the epidemic, treating 2,165 patients and curing 416 patients by Feb 21, according to officials.

Shanxi also provided counterpart aid to Xiantao, Tianmen, and Qianjiang cities. It sent 472 medics to serve in six local hospitals, who have treated 816 patients with integrated Chinese and Western medicine and cured 238 infections, officials added.

Another 1,000 Shanxi medics have offered medical aid in four hospitals and three cabin emergency hospitals in Wuhan city, which have treated 1,349 patients and cured 178 people.

The Shanxi respiratory and severe illness expert team has conducted rounds of visits to hospitals and an online medical consultation platform has been set up targeting patients in need.

In addition, medical and living supplies raised in Shanxi have also been continuously sent to Wuhan to meet the needs of their people, officials said.
