The Shanxi branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) achieved a great deal in expanding into international markets, seeking partners and learning about new industrial technologies and trends in 2019, according to local officials.

Over the past year, the CCPIT Shanxi branch organized 119 Shanxi enterprises -- operating in the mining, pharmaceuticals, foundry, and rail transportation industries -- to participate in 11 exhibitions in Russia, Germany, India, and Brazil.

That helped the companies win orders worth 240 million yuan ($34.82 million), officials said.

The 2019 Shanxi Brands Silk Road Tour organized by the CCPIT Shanxi branch went to Russia, Western Europe, South America, and Australia.

It went with over 180 government departments and companies and attended 82 promotions, business negotiations, brand exhibitions and friendship-city exchanges.

It signed 43 agreements on trade and investment, industrial and commercial cooperation mechanisms and twin city development.

On-site sales and contracts for 45.36 million yuan and intended orders worth 298 million yuan were signed during the brand promotion series events last year.

Meanwhile, the Shanxi Brands China Tour -- held in Chengdu, Guiyang, Xiamen, Shanghai and Shenzhen -- drew the participation of 157 Shanxi companies with on-site orders reaching 10.81 million yuan and intended orders amounting to 250 million yuan.

In addition, the CCPIT Shanxi branch established 10 new overseas offices during the past year, taking the overseas offices total to 33, covering five continents. It also signed cooperation agreements with 14 business and commercial associations in eight countries and regions and held 16 economic and trade events in 15 countries and regions.
