The development plan of Datong city in 2020 was recently discussed during Shanxi province's provincial two sessions, held on Jan 12-18, according to local officials.

They said that Datong will promote its transition from a coal capital to a green hydrogen hub and new energy capital. 

It will do this by accelerating the construction of projects concerning hydrogen fuel stacks, hydrogen engines and auxiliary systems, hydrogen production and utilization and new energy storage systems -- as well as building the Datong Hydrogen New Energy Industrial Park.

The city will promote innovation projects and continue to develop high-end innovation platforms such as Datong branch of Institute of Engineering Thermophysics at Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Huawei (Datong) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center and National Institute of Terahertz Industry -- so as to give them full play in research and development and boosting industry. 

In addition, the city will construct a digital government and optimize its local business environment by improving related hardware facilities and platforms and the efficiency of government services.
