Taiyuan plans to enhance its regional influence

Taiyuan, capital of northern Shanxi province, plans to develop itself into a central regional metropolis in North China with international influence in the innovation, industry, recruitment and opening up sectors, according to the 2020 provincial government work report released recently.
Efforts will be made in six areas, including industry, urban construction and the business environment and people's living standards.
Taking urban construction as an example, Taiyuan will continue to strengthen its urban infrastructure construction, speed up the construction of the Northwest No 2 Ring Expressway and open the East No 2 Ring Expressway within the year.
In addition, the city also plans to support the third-phase reconstruction and expansion of Taiyuan Wusu International Airport and accelerate the construction of rail transit, with Metro Line 2 going into service in 2020, as well as beginning preparations for Metro Line 3.
