The first issue of the English special section for northern China's Shanxi province was published in China Daily, the national English-language newspaper serving over 200 million readers all over the world, on Jan 13.

Lou Yangsheng, Party chief of Shanxi province, published a signed article called Rich and Diverse Development Potential Lauded in the special section.

In it the province invites the world to experience a thriving, open, beautiful and happy Shanxi -- and share the transformation opportunities there.

The special section, called Discover Shanxi, was jointly published by China Daily and Shanxi Daily, a regional official Chinese-language newspaper in Shanxi.

With the international platform provided by China Daily, the special section introduces the new achievements of Shanxi's transformation and development -- and displays Shanxi's unique and beautiful natural scenery and its long history and charming culture to global readers, through stories and pictures. 

The Discover Shanxi special section will be presented in China Daily each Friday and be released on a single page of the Shanxi Daily on the same day.
