Xinzhou in northern Shanxi province has planned nine major events in celebration of New Year's Day and the traditional Chinese Spring Festival, according to a recent press conference in the city. 

The nine major events include a folk custom display, opera performances, a fair for special purchases for Spring Festival, a fair of intangible cultural heritage products and a lantern show held in the local Ancient City of Xinzhou, which was opened to the public in July 2019. 

The major activities of the nine events will run to Feb 24.
