A team intrepid Shanxi doctors took off from Taiyuan, capital of the province on Nov 27, bound for the Republic of Cameroon in central Africa.

The 19 team members -- mainly selected from First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University and Peace Hospital affiliated to Changzhi Medical College -- are specialists in gynecology and obstetrics, internal medicine, physiotherapy, ophthalmology, orthopedics and traditional Chinese medicine.

China now has two aid sites in Cameroon: one at Yaounde Women and Children's Hospital in the capital Yaounde and the other at Mbalmayo Hospital in Mbalmayo in central of Cameroon.

Since 1975 Shanxi has dispatched 56 medical teams with 1,209 doctors to Cameroon, Djibouti and Togo since 1975, with 174 members receiving medals of honor from the recipient countries for their outstanding contribution.
