The women's under-16 football final of the 2nd National Youth Games kicked off in Changzhi city, Shanxi province, on Aug 5.

A total of 240 women football players in 12 teams -- from Shanxi, Jiangsu, Sichuan and Anhui provinces as well as Beijing and Shanghai -- are competing in 34 games in the Changzhi Sports Center Stadium and Tunliu district's sports center. 

To ensure a smooth competition and ensure athletes' security, the two sports centers carried out major reconstruction. Tunliu district invested 38.4 million yuan ($5.45 million) in building a standard football field covering 5.84 hectares, a stand with a capacity of 2,000 spectators and showers, medical and security rooms. 

The final runs until Aug 15.
