Zhang Yunpeng, a parkour athlete from Datong, North China's Shanxi province, renewed the national record he has maintained since 2012 and broke a world record at the 2019 Master Parkour Challenge held in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province, recently.

Zhang, 26, graduated from Shanxi Sports Vocational School in 2012 and has won lots of championships at different competitions both at home and abroad.

"Thinking of myself as a spokesman for Datong's culture, I would like to create positive publicity for the city's development and characteristics, hoping more people can get to know Datong and Shanxi," he told the local media.

Now he is preparing to challenge six consecutive Guinness world records in the sport of parkour within 36 hours.
