The track and field events of the 2nd National Youth Games started at the Shanxi Sports Center in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, on May 7.

A total of 465 athletes between the ages of 16 and 17 from 38 sports clubs across China competed in 46 events over the course of three days. 

Preliminaries for athletes from sports schools will be held in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province and Luohe, Henan province on June 14 and 15.
