Founded in 1984, Taiyuan Foreign Language School (TFLS) is a comprehensive public school serving students from secondary school to high school.

It was authorized by the Shanxi Provincial Education Department as a base for promoting the Chinese language in October 2006. 

The school offers language classes in English, Japanese, Russian, German, French and Spanish and lessons take place with small class sizes.  

TFLS currently serves around 3,000 middle and high school students and employs 287 members of staff.
