A government delegation led by Shi Yong, head of Pingyao county, visited the new section of Pingyao People's Hospital on Oct 12, according to local officials.
The delegation inspected the construction of the main structures -- including the outpatient building and medical technological examination building. It inspected the support facilities for the new section of the hospital -- putting forward solutions to building problems.
Having broken ground in September in 2016, the hospital's new section covers an area of over 6 hectares and a construction area of 8 ha.
The new facility -- which includes outpatient, logistics, medical technological examination and infectious ward buildings -- will cost 610 million yuan ($86.36 million) when completed.
At the end of 2017, the main part of the civil engineering project was capped and in 2018, the departmental locations in the main building were adjusted.
The construction has been accelerated since the beginning of 2019, officials said.
The exterior of the 20-story main building is near completion and decoration of the medical technological examination and outpatient buildings is ongoing. In addition, tendering for the purchase of medical equipment is 40 percent complete.
Officials said they expected the new section of the hospital to start trial operations in November, with the full relocation to be ready for December.
