On March 12, Shanxi Dingxin Biotechnology Co in Datong completed China's first edible yellow mealworm protein powder export, sending 5.30 metric tons to Bangkok, Thailand, via Tianjin Port. 

Yellow mealworm protein powder boasts over 70 percent high-quality protein and various amino acids, offering substantial nutritional value. The company head, Xu Binbin, said that previously, there were no domestic quality safety standards or export precedents. 

Xu added that Datong Customs provided comprehensive support, including reporting to the General Administration of Customs and clarifying regulations. Their guidance was crucial for smooth production and customs clearance.

Yin Yunfeng, a customs officer, said a task force was formed to review regulations and standards for markets like Thailand, conduct risk analyses, and issue business guides. Customs provided comprehensive service, completing local inspection procedures in just 30 minutes.

Yin added that Datong Customs will continue to monitor international market dynamics to help more Datong specialty foods and agricultural products enter global markets. 

Dingxin Biotechnology is a high-tech enterprise with a complete industrial chain integrating yellow mealworm farming, processing, research, and sales. It has partnered with universities to foster coordinated development in agriculture, industry, science, and trade. 

The export to Thailand is a key step in Dingxin Biotech's strategy to enter overseas markets. As the company's preparations for EU market access continue, it plans to expand its scale and establish a production base with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons.
