Highlights of Datong 2025 government work report
The Datong government has unveiled its 2025 work report, which showcases remarkable achievements from 2024 and sets ambitious goals for the upcoming year.
Datong experienced significant development in 2024, with its daylily industrial chain exceeding a production value of 4 billion yuan ($552.84 million).
The establishment of the Yungang Grottoes Protection Foundation and the recognition of the "Yungang Grottoes Digital Protection and Inheritance" project as a national model in digital development highlighted cultural advancements.
The green energy sector saw continued expansion, with the city's power capacity reaching 17.55 million kilowatts, while the digital economy demonstrated robust growth, with 680,000 servers in operation.
Tourism thrived, with Datong hosting 35 A-level tourist attractions. Six key sites attracted over 17 million visitors, generating ticket revenues of 640 million yuan, year-on-year increases of 108 percent and 35 percent, respectively.
Employment initiatives proved effective, creating 21,600 local jobs and establishing 59 data call and annotation enterprises, including JD Technology and iFlytek.
This year, Datong aims for a 5.5 percent increase in regional GDP and a 6.5 percent rise in fixed asset investment. The city targets a 5 percent growth in retail sales and a 5 percent increase in import and export volumes.
Urban residents' per capita disposable income is expected to grow in line with economic expansion, while rural residents' income is projected to outpace it. The city plans to create 44,000 new urban jobs and maintain consumer price inflation around 2 percent.
The report emphasizes the importance of enhancing government operations through legal governance, ensuring all decisions and actions comply with the law. Datong will strengthen the legality review of major administrative decisions and fairness in competition assessments.
