The Datong bureau of commerce recently issued an action plan to upgrade the city's cross-border e-commerce industry.

The plan sets an ambitious target of achieving a transaction volume of 500 million yuan ($71.69 million) in 2025. Each county and district is encouraged to use policy funds to attract cross-border e-commerce platforms with significant industry influence and strong driving capabilities.

The goal is to establish a directory of cross-border e-commerce enterprises and implement the "Nurture Big, Support Medium, Cultivate Small" initiative, which will guide traditional foreign trade and e-commerce companies in expanding into cross-border e-commerce.

Each county and district is expected to host at least one cross-border e-commerce resource matchmaking event or foreign trade development-themed activity annually. To attract more leading cross-border e-commerce enterprises, authorities support the establishment of a JD Cross-Border E-Commerce Industrial Park in the Datong Economic Development Zone.

The plan also includes measures to support enterprises investing in overseas warehouses in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Traditional foreign trade and cross-border e-commerce enterprises are encouraged to join the JD Cross-Border E-Commerce Comprehensive Service Platform and the Datong Export Commodity International Promotion Platform.”

The city supports cross-border e-commerce enterprises in building independent websites or expanding their international markets by joining well-known third-party platforms such as Alibaba International Station, Amazon, and TikTok International Station.

The plan also supports establishing the Alibaba International Station Jinbei Sub-Service Center in Datong. This center will provide localized and personalized services to enterprises expanding their B2B export business.

Leading enterprises are encouraged to establish cross-border e-commerce enclaves in Shenzhen, promoting talent exchange and resource matching between the two regions.

The city also supports establishing a cross-border e-commerce training base in the Datong Economic Development Zone, creating a four-way linkage training mechanism to deepen industry-education integration and promote school-enterprise cooperation.

Datong aims to have 70 registered cross-border e-commerce enterprises, 25 leading enterprises, and four municipal-level cross-border e-commerce parks by the end of 2025.
