The current experiences at the Yungang Grottoes, in Datong, Shanxi province, have been enriched by a digital art show which takes people on time travel through the centuries to understand the aesthetics of Chinese cave art. The show is produced by the creative team LEOW.
A giant sphere theater was built near the caves where a visual and audio feast reinterprets the artistic elements of Yungang of which the rock-out temples and statues narrate the exchanges along the ancient Silk Road.
The melodies, changing from majestic, divine to tranquil in mood, immerse people in a spiritual journey to connect them with those who, more than 1,000 years back, unleashed their creativity and imagination on these caves.
