International, national aero modeling contests kick off in Datong

From Aug 21 to 25, Datong cit in North China's Shanxi province is hosting prestigious combined international as well as national model aeroplane competitions.

They are the "Huajian Cup" International F3A World Cup (China Datong) and the National Aero Modeling Open (Shanxi Datong). 

The event marks the first time the F3A World Cup, a preeminent remote-controlled aerobatic competition, has been held in China, under the auspices of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, or FAI.

Co-organized by the FAI's Aeromodelling Commission, the five-day event features a range of competitions.

Highlights include the International Remote-Controlled Aerobatics (F3A) category, as well as the Remote-Controlled Helicopter (F3C), Hand-Launched Glider (F3K) Gasoline Engine Pylon Racing (P3D) Multi-Rotor Drone Soccer (F9A) and Paper Airplane Pylon Racing (P5M) categories.

The F3A World Cup in Datong gathers top-tier participants from 10 countries – including Spain, Germany and Japan, showcasing their precision flying skills.

Concurrently, the National Aero Modeling Open, a key event in China's aero modeling sector, is said to play a crucial role in advancing the nation's aerospace technology talent.

The event is seen as not only offering a technical showdown, but also a gripping aerial spectacle – promoting the popularity of aviation sports and providing a platform for enthusiasts to display and exchange their skills.
