The Datong Great Wall No 1 Tourist Highway is set to be fully completed within the year. Once operational, it will become a crucial part of promoting Datong's cultural tourism revitalization.

This project is also set to boost local economic development, and increasing incomes for rural residents along the route.

By the end of last year, 1,071 kilometers of the highway had been completed. Another 175 kilometers is scheduled to be completed this year, bringing the total length of the tourist highway to 1,246 kilometers.

The tourist highway will serve as a vital platform for integrating transportation and tourism development. Accelerating its construction will help Datong build a well-structured, functional, and efficient tourism transportation system.

This initiative aims to unify tourism industry development with the construction of beautiful villages, efficient connectivity between scenic spots, and the promotion of holistic tourism. It will also facilitate economic transformation in resource-based areas and create a diversified industrial support structure.

Additionally, the project will include slow lanes, service facilities, and scenic viewing platforms.
