The Datong Hotel, first built in 1972, has received several important Party and State leaders in the past 30 years, as well as many figures and friendly envoys from China and abroad. 

At the end of 2012, the hotel was fully renewed and expanded. It offers guest rooms, catering banquets, and conferences, and ranks as the most comprehensive hotel in Datong city tasked with handling foreign relations. 

There are 221 rooms in the hotel. Each has an international direct dial-up telephone, satellite TV receiving system, safe, and internet interface reserved to meet guests' needs for digital communication. 

The hotel has six conference halls, each of a different size, which can accommodate up to 400 people.

Restaurants focusing on Chinese and western food, and a tea house are available in the hotel, offering a variety of cuisine, snacks, specialties and drinks.
