A conference focusing on academic exchanges to support the development of the sports industry in Datong was held in the city on Aug 10. 

It was hosted by the municipal government, the Sport Bureau of Shanxi Province, and Shanxi Huajian Sports Holding Group Co. 

Experts and scholars from around the nation attended the event to discuss and promote the high-quality development of the sports industry in Datong.

Li Chunmao, deputy director of the Sport Bureau of Shanxi Province, said Datong has welcomed international and domestic large-scale sports events that were transferred from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and hosted sports events with local characteristics. He also hailed its efforts to build a cluster of sports industries by developing mountain, water, ice, and outdoor sports activities. 

The conference saw agreements on four sports industry projects signed on site.
