Gulou East Street in Datong City was recently selected as one of the provincial-level tourist and leisure districts in North China's Shanxi province, according to a joint announcement by the Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism and the Shanxi Development and Reform Commission.

The street in Pingcheng district is characterized by its well-preserved layout and traditional courtyard houses. It is surrounded by a cluster of ancient buildings, showcasing the regional culture of Datong.
