Wanlong Baideng Mountain Ski Resort in the city of Datong, North China's Shanxi province, recently opened its door to visitors.
The ski resort in Baideng Mountain Forest Park is 15 kilometers away from downtown Datong and covers 246.28 hectares. The resort also features Asia's largest indoor single ski hall, which has an area of 30,000 square meters.
In 2019, the resort hosted the second National Youth Games, where over 100 athletes from all over the country competed. The event had a positive impact on the development of winter sports in Shanxi.

As the host of the snow events for the 16th Shanxi Province Games, it ushered in a second-phase expansion project in 2022. This expansion had a total investment value of 3 billion yuan ($430.80 million).
In addition, another ski resort – the Wanlong Cailiang Mountain International Ski Sports Tourism Zone near Zhenbianbao village in Yanggao county receives 250,000 visits every winter, and their maximum daily reception capacity reaches 7,500.
The two ski resorts have made up for the shortcomings of winter tourism products and increased the modern leisure experience tourism project in Datong.
