The launch ceremony for the 2022 Yungang Cultural Tourism Season was held in Datong city, North China's Shanxi province, on July 18.

The season is being hosted by the publicity department of the Datong municipal Party committee, and will feature healthcare and summer tourism events and celebrate the eco-friendly aspects of the city, in a program running to mid-October. 

During the period, 38 large-scale cultural tourism activities will be staged. These will explore such themes as culture, escaping the summer heat, food, rural tourism, the Great Wall and study tours. 

Districts, counties, and villages across the city will hold 30 cultural and sports competitions and activities, covering folk songs, paper-cutting, photography, table tennis, aerobics, forums and exhibitions. 

Moreover, Datong will launch 10 high-quality travel routes for tourists from all over the country and put on additional tourist bus services.

Since the first session of the Yungang Cultural Tourism Season took place in 2000, it has become a well-known cultural tourism brand in Datong, celebrating culture and boosting the city's reputation and popularity.
