Datong's foreign trade growth tops Shanxi

The foreign trade of Datong in North China's Shanxi province in the first quarter of this year increased 121.7 percent year-on-year to 1.37 billion yuan ($202.71 million), with its growth rate ranking first in the province.

General trade dominated foreign trade during this period, accounting for 75.9 percent of the total value, with imports and exports valued at 1.04 billion yuan. The trade value of bonded logistics was 330 million yuan, accounting for 24.1 percent of the total. 

The foreign trade value of both private enterprises and State-owned enterprises maintained an upward trend. 

In particular, imports and exports of private enterprises were valued at 776 million yuan, accounting for 56.6 percent of the total and marking a substantial increase of 823 percent year-on-year.

Medicines, frozen meat, optical and inspection equipment, integrated circuits, activated carbon, and electromechanical equipment were the main imported and exported products, whose total trade value accounted for more than 80 percent of Datong's total imports and exports from January to March.
