Plans to improve Datong's living standards
Datong in North China's Shanxi province will implement 10 major programs this year to further improve living standards.
The programs involve fields such as urban road construction, employment, education, senior care, medical insurance, sports, culture and tourism.
Urban road construction
To raise the traffic capacity of roads and improve public transportation, Datong will connect an additional 10 roads and renovate or reconstruct 10 streets and lanes in the Ancient City of Datong.
Employment
The city will strive to create 5,000 jobs this year relying on the data service industries and related enterprises and industrial parks.
Education
To further expand preschool education resources, Datong will build 20 kindergartens, including 10 newly renovated and expanded public kindergartens. Primary schools in urban areas will implement the "Reassuring Lunch" food safety guarantee project to improve lunches for students.
Senior care
The city will build 82 pilot projects for new urban and rural senior care service facilities, including 30 community senior care service stations, to provide daytime meals, entertainment, rest, and rehabilitation services for local senior residents, and develop a senior care guarantee system covering villages, communities, townships, and counties in the city.
Medical insurance
The city's 70 hospitals above second grade will open an interprovincial direct settlement service for general outpatient expenses to better reimburse locals for medical expenses.
Five hospitals in the city will be selected to pilot the interprovincial direct settlement service for outpatient expenses for chronic and special diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, outpatient radiotherapy and chemotherapy for malignant tumors, dialysis for uremia, and anti-rejection therapy after organ transplantation.
Sports
The city will renovate and upgrade the Datong Gymnasium and Datong Workers' Stadium, and repair and upgrade the water, electricity, heating and firefighting systems of sports venues.
Culture and tourism
In response to the diverse cultural needs of urban and rural residents, Datong will improve facilities and equipment at grassroots cultural stations, expand full-time and part-time management personnel, and carry out various popular cultural activities. The city will select five excellent regular performing arts programs themed around rural tourism and the integration of culture and tourism.
