The China Pharmaceutical Strategy Conference 2021 was held in Datong, North China's Shanxi province, on Dec 25.

The conference, sponsored by the China National Pharmaceutical Industry Information Center, has a focus on "green development, innovation and breakthroughs", as well as the future development and reform of the pharmaceutical industry. Common strategies for the development of China's pharmaceutical industry were explored through a series of special forums, seminars, and symposiums.

Experts and scholars on domestic policy, economy, medicine, and pharmaceuticals as well as representatives of leading industries and innovative companies attended the conference, during which they discussed industry trends and shared achievements related to industrial policy, the pharmaceutical industry, and industry development strategies.

In addition, the China Blue Book on Health Industry (2021 Edition) and the 2021 Datong White Paper on the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Health Industries were released at the conference, as well as the 2021 list of China's most innovative pharmaceutical companies.

In recent years, Datong has formed a diversified and modern pharmaceutical industrial system centered on fermentation medicines and raw materials and supplemented by the planting of traditional Chinese medicinal ingredients, modern medicine, and medical circulation services.

A number of competitive pharmaceutical companies, such as Sinopharm Weiqida Pharmaceutical Co and Zhendong Taisheng Pharmaceutical Co, have emerged in the city and promoted Datong pharmaceutical brands globally, with some products having major market shares at home and abroad.
