The Datong Great Wall No 1 tourist road [Photo/Datong Daily]

The outdoor sports route of the Datong Great Wall No 1 tourist road stood out from 700 participating projects and became one of 2021 China's top 10 sports tourism routes in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, on Nov 27.

The honor was announced at a project promotion event during the 2021 China Sports Culture Expo and the China Sports Tourism Expo, which was held in the city on Nov 26-28.

The outdoor sports route of Datong Great Wall No 1 tourist road in Datong city, North China's Shanxi province, integrates frontier fortress culture and military culture, and is an attractive route for outdoor sports enthusiasts interested in cycling, hiking, orienteering, and camping activities. 

In addition to the route, Datong has also promoted its sports tourism venues and events at the two expos, including the Wanlong Baideng Mountain Ski Resort, Datong Ancient Great Wall Road Cycling Tournament, and Datong International Marathon. 

The 2021 China Sports Culture Expo and the China Sports Tourism Expo set up five special exhibition areas and held more than 10 forums and activities focusing on the development of the global sports industry, in an effort to jointly build a display and trading platform for the integrated development of sports culture and tourism.
