The city of Datong has become the first demonstration zone for artificial intelligence (AI) education in North China's Shanxi province. 

It has built the province's first AI laboratory for primary and secondary schools at the local Datong Experimental Middle School this year, introducing a series of AI courses. 

The AI lab is equipped with a teaching sand table, competition training sand tables and teaching aids focusing on autonomous driving. 

It will create a smart learning environment that includes online AI teaching resource platforms and offline software and hardware operation based on cutting-edge technologies.

Meantime, the lab will meet teaching curriculum requirements for AI routine teaching, project practice, and the implementation and demonstration of themed activities. 

According to the head of the Datong Experimental Middle School, AI courses will be officially launched soon and the lab will provide students with multi-scenario and intelligent learning experiences. 

Apart from the lab in the school, Datong has also built an AI lab at the Datong Experimental Primary School , as well as the Datong Demonstrative AI Lab, which will be put into use in the first half of 2022.
