Datong city's seven major tourist attractions received 269,200 visits and generated 23.08 million yuan ($3.58 million) in revenue during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7.

Over the seven-day holiday, Sanggan River Wetland Park, Chehe Organic Community, and Jianxi Ancient Castle were the most popular destinations among locals.

Rural tourism sites, including Huata, Shangbeiquan, and Xiabeiquan villages in Lingqiu county, Lierkou village in Tianzhen county, and Shuishentang village in Guangling county, remained popular among visitors.

Visitors and locals traveling by car preferred destinations such as the Great Wall No 1 tourist road and the ring road along Sanggan River.

In addition, various activities such as light shows, intangible cultural heritage experience events, admiring autumn leaves, and folk performances proved popular among tourists.

To guarantee tourists' safety and prevent the spread of the pandemic, all tourist attractions in Datong limited the number of visitors to 75 percent of their maximum capacity, and required visitors to wear masks, have their temperatures taken, and show their itineraries and health status codes.

The Datong bureau of culture and tourism formed eight working groups to conduct safety inspections of the city's tourist service facilities, accommodation, entertainment, public cultural venues, and tourist markets.

As of 2 pm on Oct 7, there were no holiday tourism safety incidents or major tourism complaints in the city, and the local tourism market was stable and orderly.
