Construction on a new power energy storage project started in Datong city in North China's Shanxi province on July 10.

The 25,000-square-meter project adopts the latest generation of all-outdoor prefabricated cabin designs and is expected to begin operating at the end of December.

It will be the first large-scale, centralized lithium-ion battery energy storage power station in Shanxi.

It will accept grid dispatches and participate in grid peak shaving and frequency regulation services while providing related consumption services for the growing number of new energy power stations.

In recent years, Datong has accelerated the comprehensive utilization of wind power, photovoltaic energy, and clean energy by constructing a photovoltaic demonstration base, the Xi'an Longi photovoltaic industrial chain project, and the Hunyuan Pumped Storage Power Station.

The city's new energy installed capacity currently sits at 6.28 million kilowatts, while the annual new energy power generation capacity has reached 8.7 billion kilowatt-hours.
