Chindata Group to develop zero-carbon digital infrastructure in Datong
Datong city in North China's Shanxi province recently signed a strategic agreement on a zero-carbon digital infrastructure project with Chindata Group, a leading carrier-neutral hyperscale data center solution provider in Asia-Pacific emerging markets.
Relying on the energy advantages of Datong and the network advantages under the background of China's "Eastern Data and Western Computing" policy, the project will focus on a new generation of ultra-large-scale zero-carbon digital infrastructure and develop intelligent equipment manufacturing and comprehensive energy sectors as support.
It will connect a high-performance computing power digital infrastructure to various zero-carbon smart city service scenarios such as public renewable energy storage, urban ice and snow sports, cold-chain logistics and cooling resources supply, smart agricultural temperature control technology, and the urban heating system.
The project aims to comprehensively increase the per kWh contribution of green electricity to per-unit GDP, forming a zero-carbon new industry by further exploring the transformation of the service industry in a city abundant in green energy.
Since it started operation in Datong in 2018, Chindata Group has made important contributions to Datong's industrial transformation and economic development.
Through the newly signed project, Datong authorities and the group will jointly build a big data industry cluster including computing centers, data storage and data server manufacturing to further promote the continuous improvement of the entire industrial chain of Datong's digital economy.
