Datong's tourism industry remains hot over holiday

The tourism market of Datong city in North China's Shanxi province maintained stable operations during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 12 to 14. 

The city's eight major scenic spots, including the Yungang Grottoes, Hengshan Mountain and Huayan Temple, received a total of 78,330 visits and achieved a total ticket revenue of 7.36 million yuan ($1.15 million). 

Major tourist attractions launched a number of traditional festive folk custom experience activities, such as dragon boat racing, hanging wormwood, eating zongzi and kite-flying.

The counties and districts in the city promoted rural tourism experiences that involved sightseeing and leisure activities. 

Chehe organic community, Huata folk culture village, Shangbeiquan and Xiabeiquan villages in Lingqiu county were the top choices for tourists partaking in self-driving and leisure trips during the three-day holiday.

Crowds went to the Tangjiapu daylily planting base in Yunzhou district to enjoy rural home stay experiences.

Meanwhile, sports enthusiasts visited Datong Volcano National Geopark for outdoor exercises.
