An original dance drama called The Great Unity was staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing on May 22.
The drama was organized by the Datong Song and Dance Troupe, which invited performers from the Academy of Music at Shanxi University, Shanxi Huajin Dance Troupe and Shanxi Provincial Song and Dance Theater to participate in the performance. The show gathered top domestic talent in the fields of dance choreography, performance, music creation and stage design.

Divided into nine chapters, the drama depicts the exchanges, communication and integration of ethnic groups in Datong city and the whole of North China's Shanxi province since ancient times. It shines a light on the pursuit of greater unity among Chinese people during various periods.
It's Shanxi's key artistic work to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

The performance vividly explores the profound historical exchanges between various ethnic groups and their integration. It also highlights the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and eulogizes China's beautiful vision of constructing a community with a shared future for humankind.
