Datong city's first hiking festival opened in the city on April 10.

Sponsored by Datong's sports bureau and Datong Sports Federation, the festival aimed to improve people's physical fitness, carry forward the spirit of the Long March and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. 

Around 700 local residents ranging in age from 4 to 65 walked 45 kilometers on the walls of the Ancient City of Datong.
