The tourism sector in Datong city in North China's Shanxi province operated smoothly and efficiently during the recent Tomb Sweeping Day holiday on April 3-5, according to the Datong bureau of culture and tourism.

During the three-day break, the city continued to innovate with its cultural and tourism products, optimized its tourist services, improved the offerings from its cultural and tourism businesses and ensured overall safety.

The city launched high-quality travel routes themed around flower viewings and rural tours, to help promote the quick recovery of the city's tourism industry.

Most visitors travelled with family, in one-day or two-day trips for strawberry picking, sightseeing and folk customs experiences -- while some tourists chose to visit scenic areas such as the Yungang Grottoes, Hengshan Mountain, Xuankong Temple and Datong Ancient City.

During the break, the city's key scenic spots received 103,700 visits, generating ticket revenue of 6.82 million yuan ($1.04 million).

In addition, patriotism education sites and revolutionary martyrs' cemeteries launched commemorative activities to promote patriotism culture and improve the experiences of visitors.
