Datong takes steps to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic
Datong city has been accelerating COVID-19 vaccinations and strengthening pandemic prevention and control measures.
The city has given more than 34,000 vaccinations to 10 high-risk groups, including frontline workers at ports, those going abroad for work or study, transport workers and healthcare staff. The immunizations are being done at 35 designated clinics in 10 local counties and districts.
Datong has accelerated the construction of fever clinics at grassroots medical facilities to improve rural areas' pandemic prevention and control capabilities. The goal is to block the occurrence of COVID-19 outbreaks in rural areas.
The city's health authority has required every county and district to set up fever clinics in at least one or two town-level health centers or community health service centers and ensure that they operate in an orderly manner. The districts and counties must also guarantee that the fever clinics' construction layout, equipment, personnel protection and material reserves meet the standards.
In response to the current pandemic situation, Datong's education authority issued a notice adjusting the start of the winter vacation to Jan 21 for primary and secondary schools. The move is being made to guarantee the health of teachers and students.
