The groundbreaking ceremony for the CESTC Informational Technology Application and Innovation and Digital Economy Industrial Park -- as well as the Zhongtian Smart Environmental Protection Industrial Park -- took place on Aug 8 in the Yangquan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province.

Representatives from Beijing-based China Electronic System Technology Co (CESTC) and Hefei CAS Guangbo Quantum Technology Co, based in Hefei in Anhui province, gave presentations on the planning and construction of their respective parks at the ceremony.

The event also saw the Yangquan development zone sign agreements with several companies on 20 projects with a total investment of 14.17 billion yuan ($2.03 billion).

Officials said the projects involve equipment manufacturing, green building materials, new materials and the modern services industries.

Since June 5, Yangquan city has begun construction of 48 projects with a total investment of 43 billion yuan in the fields of new materials, IT application and innovation, modern logistics and cultural tourism.

Some 31 projects with a total investment of 3.6 billion yuan have been completed and put into production during the same period, which officials said has greatly advanced the industrial transformation of the city.
