People dressed in vibrant costumes perform the Taige dance in Yangquan city, Shanxi province. Taige, a traditional show popular in Pingding county in Yangquan city, is an ancient folk dance performance -- in which the performers, usually boys and girls, stand high on plank platforms and other people carrying poles below parade on the streets. The performance originated in Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). It was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage item in 2008. [Photo/yq.gov.cn]
