Carved porcelain is a treasure of Chinese traditional ceramics. It is hand-made with a knife. Before the green body is dried, it is engraved in one go. It fully demonstrates the material beauty of the ceramic itself, the beauty of the skillful decoration process, and the simple beauty of the finished appearance, as well as an overall beauty that depends on shape.

The carved porcelain developed in Pingding county, Yangquan[d1]  city, Shanxi province has a long history and culture. Pingding county was identified as the "Hometown of Carved Porcelain in China" and a "Carved Porcelain Production Base in China" in September, 2006, which laid the foundation for Pingding carved porcelain to go global.
