Shanxi province's 60 major tourist attractions and the surrounding areas received 580,600 visits by tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 12 to 14, demonstrating people's enthusiasm for travel. 

The top five most popular scenic spots were Mount Wutai, Xinzhou Ancient City, Taiyuan Zoo, the Ancient City of Pingyao and Datong Fantawild Adventure.

During the holiday, the Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism launched 10 red tourism-themed travel routes. According to a special survey conducted by the Joint Laboratory of Shanxi Tourism Big Data, 84.44 percent of tourists participated in red tourism-related activities; 97 percent of tourists who participated in red tourism activities believed that red tourism activities contributed to patriotic education.

Intangible heritage displays were also a prominent feature of the tourism market during the three-day holiday, with 70.56 percent of tourists participating in heritage-related activities. 

In addition, rural tourism events launched during the holiday attracted crowds of visitors, with 73.89 percent of the tourists visiting Shanxi choosing rural trips. Among the tourists to rural Shanxi, 53.3 percent went to experience local culture and cuisine and more than 40 percent visited to experience rural scenery and folk culture.
