Taiyuan, capital city of North China's Shanxi province, kicked off streamlined services for expat work and residence permits on June 1.

The initiative is deemed to be a major measure launched by Taiyuan's authorities to meet the expectations and needs of international companies and expats, as well as to provide more convenient services for the public.

Previously handled by Taiyuan's municipal public security bureau and its municipal administrative services bureau, the issuance of foreigner work and residence permits is now accepted at one administrative service window in the city and can be handled within 15 working days, compared with 25 working days before.
